Château Tronquoy-Lalande is an estate located in St Estesphe commune also Bordeaux appellation.The castle, with its distinctive square towers, dates back to the 18th century, although by the 1960s, the property was virtually dereliction. The winegrowing estate did start in the 18th ,since the ownerrship did changes hands few times. Tronquoy Lalande wine estate is now under the ownership of the telecommunications wizard,Olivier & Martin Bouygues, who quickly hired retired Jean-Bernard Delmas ,formerly the winemaker at Haut-Brion, to make this wine as well as that of his flagship estate, Chateau Montrose.
The 2006 may be the finest wine from this estate. Drinking well now. A sleeper of the vintage.
Vinification
Vinification takes place in stainless steel tanks, and the wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, with 25 percent new wood.
Tasting note: A dark ruby/purple robe. Sweet red and black currant flavours with notions of damp earth, forest floor, and roasted herbs. An elegant and sensual wine.
Grape variety: 59% Merlot, 29% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Petit Verdot
