The estate covers 41 hectares, the soil is predominantly made up of sandy clay over a clay-limestone base, and a slight slope helps with drainage. The winerie has now a high technical facilities instal and used along with tradition.

The history of the estate began with the French Revolution  when the vast Seigneury  Lafite estates was sold as a 'National asset' .The Clerc family bought a portion near the hamlet of Milon a small hamlet near Pauillac village and respectivly gave the name to the wine. The estate long maintained a good reputation , but changing ownership trough the years, reduced the original property and its upkeep was neglected. In 1970, Baron Philippe de Rothschild of Mouton Rothschild bought the estate which has been extended and continuously improved over succeeding decades.
